BETTER Betta Care

Just say "NO"!!
New death traps posted periodically as I hunt them down!
Stores will sell anything to make money, but those of us who truely appreciate and care for our fish would NEVER subject them to any of these insane items! There are many more items that are being marketed to house Bettas that are equally as horrific, and I will continue to hunt them down and post them here!
If you think that cute little "cube" on your desk is humane, THINK AGAIN!

What can I say about this novelty item that couldn't hold more than a cup of water? The number ONE disaster on my list!
It is a lifelong prison that provides no heat, no filtration, not enough surface space, no "toys", and is nothing more than an instant ammonia trap.

This novelty item is fairly new, but just as dangerous as the "wall bowl". It also provides no heat and no filtration, and certainly not large enough to provide a betta with its essential needs to live a happy and healthy life. Please say NO to this disaster!

A glass fish bowl is still considered to be an "ok" environment for a small fish, but in reality, it's a death trap. Again, no heater, no filter, no room for "toys",and unless water is changed DAILY, any fish will soon die due to the build up of ammonia. This is no life for any breathing creature!

Where is the surface air? Where is the filter? Where is the heater? Where are the toys? Where is the space needed to exercise? A betta would much rather have all of these things and give up the plant roots and the fancy bow. Shame on stores that think this is an ideal gift.

Betta fins are very delicate and can be ripped and torn when rubbing against plastic plants. A better alternative is a silk plant, or better yet, ditch the plant and provide your fish with a Betta Log and a leaf hammock - he will love you for it!

Really? I mean, REALLY? Filtration-NO, Heater-NO, Surface space-NO, Toys-NO.
6" of space-Yes
Water-Yes
Need I say more??????

Do the companies that have chosen to sell this item really know what harm it can cause? This item has got to be the most insane idea I have seen recently.
When bettas see their reflection, they look at it as an intruder into their territory and will "flare". This flaring causes stress, which in turn can lead to DEATH.
So we need to change the name of this novelty item to "Floating Betta Mirror Death Toy"!

*****More insane contraptions with explanations below*****

OH NOOOOOOO!!!!!!
When I saw this contraption, I actually had tears in my eyes. Anyone who would subject any breathing creature to a life in this torture chamber needs to have their head examined!

Ok, one must have been drunk after polishing off this bottle and then thinking anything could possibly LIVE in this! Again, it's round (horrible conditions for any fish!), no heater, no filter, no room to swim and enjoy life, no room to add any decorations for stimulation, and limited surface space for breathing. Let's not even discuss how in God's name this can be cycled - it CAN'T! Sober up, people!!!!

On the left is a fairly new item being promoted for bettas - a "self-cleaning", uhhhh...."tank" (???) You are supposed to "siphon" out the old water and add the new - no need to clean anything or remove your fish. REALLY?? Where is the heater, the surface space, the toys, the filter in this contraption? So if you decide to spend the $55 for this death trap, you have the brains of an ant! Actually, ants are smarter, so where does that leave you? JUST SAY NO!!!

Left & Right: You would have to be insane to pay $79 for these death traps!
Just plain WRONG on SO many levels! Save your money on these gimmicks and you'll save a fish.

Left: Ok, really???? Are you kidding me??? OMG! I am at a loss for words on this piece of crap! If you must have this "teddy bear", then don't put water or a fish or anything else that has a life inside of it, because after a few days, whatever life was in it will be DEAD! This would make a cute novelty gift for a child to store his money or candy in, but never a living, breathing creature! JUST SAY NO to this lame brain of an idea that some idiot came up with to make a buck!
OMG - OMG - OMG - OMG - JUST SAY NO!!!!!
More Insane Gimmicks !

FYI: A "child", who obviously knows nothing about how to care for fish, came up with this idea! SHAME ON YOU IF YOU PUT ONE PENNY IN THIS CHILD'S POCKET SO MORE FISH CAN DIE!
I have no words....Just tears :( :( :( :( :( :( :(

THE VASE: This is probably the most popular insane item people use - they think it's "cute". Well, here's a bit of information - it's horrible for many reasons: it's round, there's no heater or filter and it cannot be cycled, there's limited surface space for breathing, there's no room to swim and be HAPPY, and PLASTIC decorations are a NO-NO! Oh yeah, and the ammonia will build up quickly EVERY DAY! This is a DEATH SENTENCE!

Does anyone actually think this is cute? The moment you slap a fish in something like this, a light bulb should explode in your head! Talk about ABUSE! Just looking at this makes me cry :(
Please people, PLEASE! STOP the ABUSE!

Ok...someone, who had nothing else to do in life, came up with another death trap for Bettas. This has NONE of the essential ingredients for a fish to live a long, happy, healthy life - NONE! If you want something cute to sit on your desk, then get this and don't put anything in it that BREATHES! Betta fish are the most abused fish on the market - don't be the one who condems them to a life of misery and death - Just Say NO!

Take the Betta OUT and this will look great on your desk. WHY, WHY, WHY do people think THIS is ok??????
No words :( :(

Too small, no filter, no heater, cannot be cycled, no room for actual swimming - WRONG on ALL levels!

REALLY??? I give this fish a week before he is added to the list of "Dead Bettas due to owner ignorance!"

Putting male fish side by side causes stress - stress causes death, so do you really think this is a good idea? Where's the heater and filter? OH, that's right - THERE'S NO ROOM!

If fish could talk, he would say, "LET ME OUT!" Come on, people, do you really care that you're killing this fish for the sake of your home "decor"? Fish are not decorations - they are living, breathing, feeling creatures! TREAT THEM AS SUCH!

WOW...I wish I had a page called "Human Stupidity"! I don't even know where to begin. The sadness I feel when I see fish treated this way is beyond words.
WHAT A LIFE - round and round with no room to turn around! But by golly, it looks good on your desk, huh?
WAKE UP!!!!
Stop killing these beautiful fish!

Jars are for JAM, Not fish!

It's bad enough that we stuff them into 6 ounces of water, now we have to hang them for our friends to see! Is there no end to the cruelty some people will come up with?
